New for 2026 a Black version of the award winning Petromax Atago BBQ Grill/Fire Pit. With its unique extension-retraction mechanism, the Atago folds down in seconds to just 15cm height, perfect for carrying to the beach and stowing in VW Transporters. The multiuse Petromax Atago can be used as a conventional barbecue, a stove, an oven and a fire pit with charcoal briquettes or firewood all in one neat little package.
The Atago Black is made from high quality stainless steel, painted black, and has an enamelled cast iron grill plate for optimal heat storage. The double-walled construction with a sophisticated air flow system ensures effective combustion with little smoke and residue. The interaction of primary and secondary air creates an even heat development with reduced wood or charcoal consumption.
You can use the Petromax Atago Black with the grilling grate as a regular barbecue, use wrought iron frying pans or skillets directly over the top or a Dutch oven inside – because the pans are completely surrounded by steel, the heat yield is very high and can be controlled via the side air flow vent.
After use, simply lift the Atago Black by the handle and watch the legs automatically flip away and the top part retract into the bottom bowl within a couple of seconds as you place it back down – very slick German engineering!
