Brunner Comet VW Transporter Tailgate Awning

The Brunner Comet VW Transporter Tailgate Awning is a frameless awning that simply slides over tailgate of a VWT5/T6. The Comet awning makes an ideal shelter for cooking if your van has a tailgate kitchen fitted with good protection from wind and plenty of ventilation.  This neat awning can also be used for outdoor storage, a sheltered dining area on wet and windy days or a portable loo, a shower set up etc.

The awning slides over the tailgate and is secured in place with clips to the gas struts and sewn-in magnetic strips. The awning is pegged at the bottom and the 4 x guylines keep it secure. The rear door can either be rolled up out of the way or pegged out with guylines and 2 x king poles to create a sun canopy – great for hot days! 

Large mesh windows on the sides and rear door allow good airflow.

This unique frameless design has a very small pack size so is perfect for a compact van and great for daytime use… although if you do want to close your tailgate for security you will have to detach from the tailgate first and fold down the awning to the ground.
