Radiant Heat Return and the Peak Elite AC
RHR is exclusively used on the Peak AC series of sleeping pads. Pure aluminum particles are infused into the airtight coating of the fabric, increasing R-Value by more than 10%. RHR is enhanced when radiant heat waves are isolated to a fabric chamber composed of dark fabrics. Dark fabrics, like black, harmonize with the thermal frequencies of the radiant heat waves and return is then maximized.
Fabric
The Peak Elite AC air channel sleeping pad uses this superlight fabric in order stay lightweight, yet durable. This 33 Denier (D) nylon has a similar weight per yard as many of the sil-nylons that you see in the outdoor marketplace, but instead of using a sil coating, we use an airtight polyurethane. The polyurethane allows us to create a long lasting bond and ensures that pad will keep air tight. This 33 denier is not an ordinary stock fabric, but is milled in Japan and incorporates a Diamond Rip Stop weave. The Diamond Ripstop (DRS) weave is aligned on the pad so that that apex points line up vertically. This special manoeuvre increases the durability of the sleeping pad and the raised Diamond Rip Stop threads both deflect sharp points from piercing the pad and offer grip slip resistance to sleeping bags and tent floors.
Bio Mapping insulation
Bio Mapping insulation is the best way to insulate a high performance sleeping pad while keeping the pad lightweight, able to roll up into a small packed size, and insulate you from the ground. Bio Mapping is an exercise in efficiency, adding more insulation under your torso and in places where you have the opportunity to lose the most heat, maximizes the impact of the that insulation. In places where insulation is not as important, the legs, we remove the most amount of foam using our signature diamond die cuts. We test the R-Values on our pads from head to toe and engineer them so that they perform extremely well in the specific season that they are designed to be used in. You will notice that we provide a range of R-Values for most of our pads. The range in R-Values is due to the Bio Mapped foam manipulation, and you can rest assured that when comparing other manufacture's pads to ours, we will always be warmer (match season of use to season of use).
